Flanked by Nightshade and Cloudstrider, King Artys urged his Queen to press closer to the dragon; when in range of Aegon, he tried to shout over the bellowing winds.
"Targaryen! Are you insane? Look at what you've done!"His voice was raspy, the high altitude and lower pressure would feel very uncomfortable for someone unprepared. "If you come here in peace, and I do hope so, stir this beast out of here."

Aegon shouted back.
"Look what I've done? I have come to see what has been wrought here. What has been done is not by my doing."
He leaned forward to issue a command to Balerion, before raising his voice again.
"I shall not attack anyone unless I am attacked."

"Your actions led to the continent to be divided in two; millions of lives were lost..." The King roared, keeping his hands away from his sword, he didn't want to send any indication of aggression to Aegon, his Queen could possibly outmaneuver Balerion but unfortunately she lacked the fire spitting perk. "There are thousands of people gathering down there, how did you expect them to react to the sight of your black demon?"
"We are not here to fight either." Artys tried a ease the situation. "I urge you, stir the dragon away from sight; or many more innocent lives might be lost."

"My actions?" Aegon shouted incredulously. "I can assure you that while Balerion can cause death and destruction if I allow him to, he and I do not have the power to cause earthquakes that rend land asunder. I say again, what caused this was not of my doing."
Aegon pointed his sword at the large camp below them.
"Now what is going on down there?"

"If we go somewhere far from the camp I'll explain everything to you, Lord Aegon." Artys said, expecting the dragon rider to understand the difficulties of having a real conversation in such an altitude such as this, with their mounts flying at the speed they were at. "Just follow me and we can talk."
King Artys stirred his eagle northwards, expecting to drive the sight of te Dragon away from the camp; he raised a hand, waving off his son and second in command to return to the ground.

"Very well." replied Aegon eyeing the birds. "But only you. You have my word that unless I am attacked, no harm will come to you."

"I, Artys of the House of Arryn, Fifth of my name, King of the Mountains and the Vale, give you my word that no harm shall come to you, Aegon Targaryen, nor to your dragon." He shouted.

Only when Pyne Keep and the Camp were far behind them did Artys start his descent; it was a beach on the northernmost side of the Island. He dismounted his Queen and drew his greatsword, setting it gently on the sand.
"I would expect you to do the same." The King said bluntly.

After putting on boots and a red leather jerkin, Auron and his men rode hard for where the dragon had landed.

Miles away from the camp, well Aegon landed Balerion on the firm sand of the wide beach, the huge dragon having to place one of his feet in the water, but did not dismount. Claw Island would be roughly due east of here he surmised. He sheathed his sword.
"There is no need. Pick up your sword." he said calmly to Artys, when he saw him lay his great sword down. "I have given my word that you will not be harmed, but I will speak with you from here."

"So... After all these years you're back." The King spoke peacefully, he did not move to get his sword back, keeping his hands entwined in front of him. "There's a summit, between the High King and the Royal Septon; a very large event, the first between the two halves after the Cataclysm. Everyone of note is attending."
"The sight fo the Dragon sent the people; poor people, with no instruction or knowledge whatsoever. The only time they had seen such a beast before was directly followed by the death of many; would you condemn them for reacting the way they did? The very silhouette of Balerion sent they into disarray, some were probably trampled other caught in their sleep by their tents on fire." He stated, with just a small fraction of annoyance blooming on his voice.
"Do you still think it was a fair decision to fly over a large encampment under such conditions?"

"I knew nothing of any such encampment or summit." replied Aegon calmly. "I came to see the results of the earthquake - this cataclysm - and to determine if any were left alive. While my eyesight is good, I cannot see much detail from such a height. And it was not my beast that caused the deaths of so many twelve years ago."
He mused for a moment.
"High King you say? Who is this High King?"

"But it was your greed, your thirst for conquest, that led the Children to choose this path." Arryn started to feel the heat going up his spine; Although the Vale was spared of most damage, he had his own traumas to associated to the events of twelve years ago. "But either way had the Cataclysm not happened, would you stop at burning thousands of innocents only for you to sit on a fancy throne and lay a crown on those silver curls of yours?"
"King Brandon Reed, he rules over the Northern Continent."
